COMPULSORY BASIC TRAINING - MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENTS

In the UK motorcycle riders must pass tests and examinations in order to ride on public roads. The scheme is intended to ensure that only sufficiently skilled and knowledgeable motorcyclists are operating bikes on the roads and highways. Proper training, both practical and theory-based, helps to keep road users safe. One way and another the last thing that a new rider wants is an appointment with a motorcycle accident solicitor.

The basic topics covered in Compulsory Basic Training courses include :-

  • manoeuvering and parking a motorcycle
  • road practice
  • slow control

Theory Test and Practical Test

After you have earned your Compulsory Basic Training certificate you must also take the theory test and the practical test before you can take off your L plates and hold a full motorcycle license. You are allowed to take the theory test before you complete your CBT, but most riders opt to obtain their CBT first. The theory test consists of 35 multiple choice questions and takes approximately 40 minutes to complete. You must get 30 of the questions right in order to pass the test. You may take the theory test as many times as necessary in order to receive a passing mark.
